A house in the 22,000 block of South Deal Avenue in Channahon was completely destroyed by fire around 3:20 this morning. Upon arrival, fire companies reported a well involved residential structure.
Suppression operations along with interior searches of the home’s unaffected area were initiated by crews. Fire attack operations transitioned to the exterior following immediate interior searches due to the volume of fire present. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The house and contents are a total loss. Total estimated loss was not available at time of this press release. The cause of the fire is not known and is currently under investigation by fire investigators from MABAS Division 15.
Local fire agencies assisting at the scene included Minooka, Troy, Wilmington, Lockport, Elwood, Morris, Coal City, and Wilmington ESDA. Apparatus from East Joliet, New Lenox, and Homer provided area coverage for the duration of the incident.
