The Channahon Village Board last week hired Morris Community High School graduate Nina Funk as its community service officer.

Funk has a degree in criminal and social justice from the University of St. Francis. In the position, Funk will assist the Channahon police department with fingerprinting, coordinating community events, enforcing parking regulations and records.

Channahon trustees also approved adding one additional Class 1 beer and wine liquor license to the village, which will serve the barbecue business Country Blaze.

Trustees also approved the 2019 Channahon Police Pension Fund tax levy request in the amount of $748,963 and the purchase of a new lawn mower from Turf Team for $12,987.
