UPDATE: The event has been cancelled due to potentially high and dangerous temperatures forecast for Friday. 

A celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing is planned for next week.

Hosted by the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana with grant support from the Community Foundation of Grundy County, the events take place Wednesday, July 17 and Friday, July 19 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Chapin Park in Morris.

Activities include the frog jump, where participants see how far they can jump with the moon’s gravity, aim for the moon which showcases how far away the moon is and challenges aim and astronaut ice cream will be served.

The event is free and open to the public.
