A Grundy County man accused of robbing the Morris Coin Shop won’t have his bond reduced. Stephen Eichelkraut, 25, of Morris has been charged with aggravated robbery indicating a firearm, a class one felony.
The Morris Police Department said Eichelkraut allegedly entered the Morris Coin Shop on Liberty Street, demanded cash and then left the scene around 9:30 a.m. on February 27.
Eichelkraut was wearing all dark clothing, a mask over his face and had an air soft gun. After an investigation and receiving surveillance video, Eichelkraut was arrested and his vehicle was located in the 100 block of West Washington Street nearly two hours later.
Investigators say the gun and mask used during the crime were located in Eichelkraut’s vehicle. He remains in the Grundy County Jail on a $750,000.
Last week, Gundy County Public Defender Gary Dobbs filed a motion to have Eichelkraut’s bond lower. During a bond reduction hearing on Monday, that motion was denied by Grundy County Judge Lance Peterson.
