The Grundy County Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of robbing the Casey’s gas station n Braceville in May of 2019.
Investigators say Cordairo Mitchell, 31, of Lynwood and another black individual wearing dark colored clothing, and blue latex gloves entered the business with two large duffle bags.
The two men, armed with guns, went straight to the cigarettes. More than 50 cartons of cigarettes valued at $4,800 and cash were stolen from the business. As the two individuals were leaving the store, a customer was forced at gunpoint to get down on the ground.
The two suspects were seen leaving in a dark colored vehicle northbound on Route 129 to Braidwood. An in-depth investigation led investigators to information that tied Mitchell to the area at the time of the robbery.
Mitchell was arrested by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office on January 7th and is currently in the custody of the Will County Jail on other related charges in surrounding jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, the other individual has not been arrested as the investigation remains ongoing.
