Aurora Police have released new still photographs of a mini van that was the alleged vehicle used that killed a homeless man in a hit and run crash in city, last week.
The crash took place last Wednesday where 46 year-old Danny Anderson was found at Route 25 near the crosswalk at Hazel Ave. in Aurora's downtown.
Police say Anderson was crossing in the crosswalk of Hazel Ave. with another man when the crash occurred. The man accompanying Anderson saw an older gray minivan traveling southbound on Route 25.
He would stop in the middle of the crosswalk when he yelled to Anderson to stop, but Anderson ran westbound in front of the minivan and was struck.
The driver of the minivan stopped for a few seconds but then fled southbound.
Police say Danny Anderson was first taken to an Aurora hospital and was then airlifted to a suburban hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:50 a.m. on Thursday.
In a post on Monday, Aurora Police say they are, "imploring the driver of the vehicle, or anyone who knows his or her identity, to do the right thing and come forward."
To this point, only poor quality photos were available.
Anyone with information on the fatal hit and run crash is asked to contact Aurora Police or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers.
